Never has one man been so consistently wrong about so much. Whether through ignorance, arrogant stubbornness or pure maliciousness, our current president has put the U.S. on a disastrous course over the past seven years, and Americans aren’t happy.
A Rasmussen poll this week reports 66% of American voters believe the country is on the wrong track. A CNN-ORC poll released Tuesday reports that 75% of Americans are dissatisfied with the way U.S. is being governed, and 69% are angry with the direction of the country. Gallup posted this chart last week showing 69% of Americans view 'big government' as the biggest threat to their future, one of the highest percentages recorded in Gallup's 50-year-trend.
For many Americans, the end of Obama’s Reign of Error can’t come soon enough.
TERRORISM—Obama dismissed ISIS as the 'JV team' and ranked terror below climate change as a national priority. Americans vehemently disagree.
Obama's handling of terrorism gets a 60% disapproval rating from Americans in this week's CNN-ORC poll, and 40% think the terrorists are winning. (Another 40% think neither side is winning, and only 18% believe the U.S. and its allies are winning.) An NBC/WSJ poll earlier this month found that 40% of Americans believe terrorism/national security is the top concern, up 19 points since April 2015.
ECONOMY—Obama's economic policies have produced a painfully slow recovery from the 2008 economic downturn, and Millennials are bearing the brunt of it. Despite the president's claim of good economic times, the middle class is losing ground and median earnings for 18- to 34-year-olds have declined:
Meanwhile, big spending Obama has doubled the U.S. national public debt from $6.662 trillion in March 2009 to $13.378 trillion today, and Americans will be paying for his spendthrift habits long after Obama leaves office.
IMMIGRATION—Defying U.S. immigration law, Obama has been sued by 26 states for his executive actions on immigration. His open border policies are costing Americans plenty. A record $946 million alone this fiscal year was spent to process unaccompanied minors illegally crossing the border. Millions more in tax dollars are being spent on refugee resettlement and various forms of social welfare benefits to illegal and legal immigrants.
This Center for Immigration Studies projection shows a nation being rapidly overwhelmed by immigrants, with little time or opportunity to assimilate into American culture before the next wave arrives:
HEALTHCARE—Obama's government regulatory policies have overwhelmed the U.S. economy — 81,611 new pages of regulations in 2015 alone — and none more than the Obamacare regulations. Sold on a pack of lies, the Affordable Care Act has never been affordable, has not expanded health care availability, and has never been supported by a majority of Americans. Even members of Obama's own political party joined Republicans this fall in passing legislation to gut key parts of Obamacare. Obama will veto it this year, but next year he'll be gone.
So cheer the new year. By the end of 2016, Americans will have a new president-elect, and the hope this change will offer is truly something worth celebrating.
