Juliana graduated in June from Oakcrest School in McLean, VA, a Catholic private girls' school. While Juliana is there, she will major in Humanities and hopes to also go to graduate school.
Juliana is the oldest of five siblings and loves to spend time with her large family, whether it be hiking, cooking, or traveling around the East Coast.
Juliana is a conservative because she believes that a limited government gives citizens the freedom to lead independent and upright lives. She also supports traditional moral policies, such as the right to life and marriage between one man and one woman.
Juliana's favorite conservative woman is Margaret Thatcher. She admires her perseverance in the midst of unpopularity and commitment to her own beliefs, traits that earned her the nickname of the "Iron Lady." Thatcher broke stereotypes by becoming the first female Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and showed another side to femininity – a side where a woman can be graceful and poised, yet relentless and determined.
Juliana's favorite quote is of St. Augustine: "The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page." She loves visiting new places and experiencing new cultures, and hopes to do plenty of that while in Spain.
In high school, Juliana played varsity tennis for four years and served on Student Council. She also spent a summer in Madrid, Spain volunteering as an English teacher at a children's summer camp (and toured much of Spain and Portugal, as well).
Juliana likes to take advantage of her close proximity to D.C. and enjoys sightseeing in the city. One of her favorite places is the National Basilica on the Catholic University campus.
Juliana's favorite memory from this year was seeing Pope Francis when he came to D.C. on his first papal visit to the United States. She sat and waited on the sidewalk for three hours to watch him drive by in the pope-mobile!
Juliana been working at the Clare Boothe Luce Policy Institute for one month now and is enjoying her time here. CBLPI headquarters is always lively and she is constantly learning more about the world of policy.
