During the summer months, we find most students wanting to rest and recoup from a long year of study. ‘Summer reads’ are often lighthearted, relaxing books that take you away from the day-to-day. While we appreciate and love that style, this year we want to challenge you. For our June book club, we have selected Diana West’s American Betrayal: The Secret Assault on Our Nation’s Character. None only is this book heavy and intense, but it breaks open our historical narrative and reaches the truth. Diana West is an award-winning journalist and the author of The Red Thread: A Search for Ideological Drivers Inside the Anti-Trump Conspiracy, American Betrayal: The Secret Assault on Our Nation’s Character, and The Death of the Grown-Up: How America’s Arrested Development Is Bringing Down Western Civilization. Since graduating from Yale, West began a career in journalism, writing a weekly newspaper column at the Washington Times. She soon became a nationally syndicated columnist. West’s work has appeared in many publications and news sites. She has made numerous television, documentary and radio appearances, and addressed audiences including at the American Legion, the Danish Parliament, the Heritage Foundation, the Hudson Foundation, ICON, Institute for the Study of Strategy and Politics, Judicial Watch, the National Vietnam Veteran and Gulf War Coalition, the Naval War College, the Union League Club, and Yale.
