On Monday, September 16, Michelle Malkin stepped onto the University of Pennsylvania to share with students her new book, “Open Borders Inc.,” a thorough investigative piece exposing multi-million dollar campaigns from wealthy celebrities who are investing in the destruction of America’s immigration system.
However, just one day before the lecture, a journalist from The Daily Pennsylvanian published a hit piece on Malkin titled, “After accusations of anti-Semitism, conservative author Michelle Malkin to speak at Penn.” The article conveyed Michelle as hiding in the dark after criticizing Jewish Democratic Party donor George Soros, stating “…Michelle Malkin will speak on campus… in what will be one of her first public appearances after being accused of making anti-Semitic comments.”
Michelle Malkin held the article high as she explained how libel journalism like such can have devastating effects on a person’s reputation and career. She explained how it’s journalists like him that spread false narratives that distract from the larger issue at hand.
“It makes it impossible to have rational discussions about where this money is coming from, how it’s being spent, and who’s responsible for sabotaging American sovereignty,” said Malkin.
Proving her point further, Malkin used examples of the media continuously labeling President Trump as anti-Semitic.
“We have the most pro-Israel president in U.S. history, every single day being labeled an anti-Semite. It doesn’t matter he’s the best friend of Israel. It doesn’t matter he has practicing Jewish members of his own family, including his own son-in-law and his daughter,” explained Malkin.
The Daily Pennsylvanian journalist, Grant Bianco, raised his hand from the audience in an attempt to defend himself.
“You already had your turn,” pointed Malkin as the audience clapped.
“Let me give you a direct analogy of what an article might look like, if you were accused of say, pedophilia,” Malkin said. “After accusations of pedophilia, Daily Pennsylvania writer Grant Bianco to attend Michelle Malkin’s speech.”
“Do you see the problem with this,” questioned Malkin.
As the audience cheered, Malkin addressed a statement from the University of Pennsylvania from 2016 that would “not allow Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)… on our campus unless required by warrant.” The statement also said the University would refuse to “share any information about any undocumented student with these agencies unless presented with valid legal process.”
Malkin, a former resident of Montgomery County which just recently released a similar statement laid out the many ways a Sanctuary City, or in this case, a Sanctuary Campus, would have on its residents.
“Sanctuary policies across the country have made every single resident of this country more unsafe,” Malkin said. “Because once again what you’re doing is constructing these walls that block communication between federal immigration agents and everyone else.”
After a large applause from the audience, Malkin met with attendees for pictures and to sign their books, as well as answer any lingering questions.
The lecture was hosted by senior Danielle Yampolsky, president of the University of Pennsylvania’s College Republicans chapter.
