Elizabeth is in the class of 2017 at Virginia Tech majoring in Political Science with a focus in National Security. She is from Lexington, Virginia, where she attended Rockbridge County High School.
Elizabeth is a conservative because, like one of her favorite presidents, Ronald Reagan, she thinks "The nine most terrifying words in the English language are: 'I'm from the government, and I'm here to help.'"
Elizabeth's favorite conservative woman is CBLPI speaker and board member, Kate Obenshain, because of her passion, drive, and fearlessness. She loves Kate's ability to speak her mind no matter who it goes against. She is also inspired by Kate being the first woman chair of the Virginia GOP, and her drive to help other conservative women.
Elizabeth has gone to visit President Ronald Reagan's ranch home three times, and it has quickly become one of her favorite places. On visits out there, she has met many conservative leaders. She had lunch with CBLPI speaker and board member, Marji Ross, met Governor Scott Walker, and former Virginia Governor George Allen, for whom Kate Obenshain served as chief of staff and Michelle Easton served as a member/president of the Virginia State Board of Education. Elizabeth and President Reagan share a love of horses and riding, and the last time she visited the ranch, she was able to experience the California riding experience.
Elizabeth's favorite quote is from Atticus Finch in To Kill a Mockingbird: "Before I can live with other folks, I've got to live with myself. The one thing that doesn't abide by majority rule is a person's conscience."
Elizabeth recently spoke on the student panel at CBLPI's Western Women Summit about being a conservative on her campus.
Her guilty pleasure TV show is Once Upon a Time.
And her friends claim she has an unhealthy obsession with her cats (wonder why).
She found out about CBLPI from former intern, Lauren McCue, who was in the same campus conservative group. Elizabeth couldn't wait to apply after Lauren told her how amazing her internship had been.
