Reading good books aloud to children, argues Wall Street Journal children’s book critic Meghan Cox Gurdon, expands their vocabularies, builds their attention spans, exposes them to epic adventures, engages their imaginations, and connects them to the larger world in ways that modern technologies, such as Facebook, Twitter and Snapchat, never can.

Ms. Gurdon’s remarks were recorded at the November 2015 Conservative Women’s Network luncheon, a monthly event co-sponsored by the Luce Institute and The Heritage Foundation.
