During the summer months, we find most students wanting to rest and recoup from a long year of study. ‘Summer reads’ are often lighthearted, relaxing books that take you away from the day-to-day. While we appreciate and love that style, this year we want to challenge you. For our June book club, we have selected Diana West’s American Betrayal: The Secret Assault on Our Nation’s Character.

As the month of May opens, we find many young women in our circle graduating, moving for internships, or starting a summer job. These days are often full of new challenges and experiences. It can be hard to find your footing in these new life roles. To help engage and encourage during this process, we have chosen Senator Joni Ernst’s book, Daughter of the Heartland: My Ode to the Country That Raised Me, as our May book club choice.

Many conservative Americans have been soul searching these past few months. Our nation appears to be at a crossroads in time. Will we continue forward with the goals of our founding at the helm, or will we fail to pass the torch?

Americans have been increasingly facing the new barrage of ‘cancel culture’ that threatens to undermine our lives and society. This Leftist attitude sets to ‘cancel’ anyone that disagrees with its radical agenda. People across our great nation have been fired from jobs, experienced online harassment, and have been physically assaulted.

Last year was a long and arduous year, full of rioting and political disagreement on so many levels. We find solace in books that help direct us toward the best future for our nation. America needs citizens invested in learning how to improve the country, bridge the gaps, and teach others the true beauty of its principles. This January, we have selected Dr. Carol Swain’s book, Be The People: A Call to Reclaim America’s Faith & Promise, as our book of the month.

December’s Book of the Month features a timely discussion of Heather MacDonald’s book, “The War on Cops: How the New Attack on Law and Order Makes Everyone Less Safe.”

Our November Book of the Month delves into the uniquely American experience of the holiday we all love to celebrate with family and good food.
